We are currently inviting applicants for a postdoctoral position to examine the microfauna of Natural Trap Cave. Postdoctoral researchers will work closely with Drs. Jenny McGuire (GT) and Julie Meachen (DMU).
For this project, we are looking for someone with the following:
- vertebrate identification skills
- community ecology &/or stable isotope geochemistry skills
- willingness to perform fieldwork in collaboration with a large community of scientists and volunteers
Natural Trap Cave is a pitfall cave in the Bighorn Basin, northern Wyoming. We have collected, picked, and sorted over 37,000 identifiable microfauna specimens from this site thus far. A community of volunteers are in-place to facilitate picking going forward. Field work is anticipated. The postdoctoral scholar who takes on this position can expect to perform vertical cave work, including 80-foot rappels/climbs, and a survey of modern community composition (training provided).
Candidates interested in the position may apply by emailing Jenny McGuire (jmcguire@biology.gatech.edu) a CV, contact information for 3 references, and a brief statement of your research interests and goals. Please contact the same email address for any additional information.
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until positions are filled.
